The Commissioning Process

Commissioning bespoke furniture is an enjoyable and creative journey. It is an opportunity for you to put your own personal stamp on a piece of furniture and to make it uniquely yours. Our designs aim to interpret your needs and aspirations and combined these with our creative imagination and skills as craftsmen to make the perfect piece.

The process begins with an initial meeting ideally at the location in which the new piece will be housed. This meeting gives you the opportunity to look through our portfolio of past commissions and also allows us to see where the furniture will live, to take accurate measurements and to get a feel and take inspiration from the surroundings. Preferred design styles, practical aspects of the design, timber choices, budgets and timescales will also be discussed. Normally we make no charge for this first stage of the process.

The second stage of commissioning involves us preparing initial design proposals with costings for your consideration. Sketches, 3-D presentation drawings, wood samples and if required scale models will be created and along with details of the budget, these are presented to you at a second meeting where your input is welcomed. If a re design is required we go back to the drawing board as its important to us that both parties are completely happy with the proposal. We charge £150 for this second stage of the process but this will be waived if the commission goes ahead.

If you decide to go ahead with the commission, a deposit of 1/3 rd of the budget with the balance on delivery secures a place in the workshops schedule and an approximate delivery date is discussed. During the making process, you are most welcome to visit our workshop at a mutually convenient time to see the work in progress.

On completion of the work, arrangements are made for delivery and installation, when payment of the balance of the cost is due. The finished piece is delivered and installed by us with final positioning on site.
