These bedside tables were inspired by David’s visit to the Canterbury Shaker Village in New Hampshire in 1991. The Shakers were master craftsmen and believed that something should not be made unless it was both necessary and useful; but if it is both, then it should be made as beautifully as possible. Based on an authentic and original shaker design each table is made from American Cherry with a contrasting turned draw pull in brown oak. Traditional hand cut dovetails are used in draw construction, as is Cedar of Lebanon to impart a beautiful natural citron fragrance to each draw and its contents. Finished in brushed shellac to enhance the natural beauty of the cherry, each table has a simple understated refined elegance synonymous with the Shaker movement
