Commissioned in 2013 by a client wanting a simple and elegant free standing set of display shelves that could also be used for books as required. The piece was made from beautiful and contrasting American Cherry and English Sycamore in a traditional frame and panel design that incorporates subtle detailing to provide sophistication. A generous cove detailing was incorporated into each of the shelf fronts and the top to provide a light feel to the piece and delicate lambs tongue bevels were hand carved to bring each of the top corner to a crisp point and highlight its bespoke hand-made nature. Finished in oil to bring out the rich warmth of the Cherry and water based acrylic lacquer to ensure the beautiful pale cream Sycamore panels would not yellow over time, the piece now takes centre stage in the clients living room.
